چکیده

This project applies coherency methods for dynamic analysis of power systems. It has been observed that in case of disturbances machines swing together, forming groups of coherent generators. In [1], a dynamic network reduction is described based on a slow-coherency method, aggregating coherent generators into one equivalent machine. In [2] it is demonstrated that such methods can also be used for large disturbances, in order to identify groups of coherent generators and apply controlled islanding. The objective of this project was to implement slow coherency methods in a medium and a large scale power system and test their effectiveness. We implemented algorithms that would group the machines offline based on coherency between them independent of the disturbance and then evaluated their performance in comparison to actual simulations performed in PSS R © E. In this way, conclusions were drawn regarding the effectiveness in representing the dynamic properties of the full network by an equivalent reduced one and the possible applicability of slow coherency in controlled islanding algorithms.

Online Aggregation of Coherent Generators Based on Electrical Parameters of Synchronous Generators

This paper proposes a novel approach for coherent generators online clustering in a large power system following a wide area disturbance. An interconnected power system may become unstable due to severe contingency when it is operated close to the stability boundaries. Hence, the bulk power system controlled islanding is the last resort to prevent catastrophic cascading outages and wide area bl...

Novel Results on Slow Coherency in Power Networks

iv v Summary The thesis was conducted during a period of six months at the University of Cali-In this thesis we revisit the classic slow coherency and area aggregation approach to model reduction in power networks. The slow coherency approach is based on identifying sparsely and densely connected areas of a network, within which all generators swing coherently. A timescale separation and singul...

GGRA: a grouped gossip-based reputation aggregation algorithm

An important issue in P2P networks is the existence of malicious nodes that decreases the performance of such networks. Reputation system in which nodes are ranked based on their behavior, is one of the proposed solutions to detect and isolate malicious (low ranked) nodes. Gossip Trust is an interesting previously proposed algorithm for reputation aggregation in P2P networks based on t...
